IEA Presidential Debate: Who Stood Out?

Presidential Candidates of the four political parties with representation in Parliament slugged it out on Tuesday evening at the first of two Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) organized presidential debates ahead of the 2012 elections.

The debate began with the ruling National Democratic Congress’ flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Dr. Abu Sakara Foster, the People’s National Convention’s Hassan Ayariga and the main opposition New Patriotic Party’s Nana Akufo-Addo presenting their broad national agenda for the nation before moving into the specific areas of the political management.

The debate, lasting nearly five-hours, and moderated by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Prof. Jane Opoku Agyemang, saw the candidates answering questions on job creation, agricultural, education, healthcare, private sector development, energy sector, taxation, retail trading and the all-important issue of education.
