Accra, Aug 7, GNA – Mr Clement Lartey, a tutor of Ada Secondary Technical School, has said that the acquisition of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training would enable the youth to develop their career path.
Speaking at a seminar on ICT organised by members of the Saint Paul’s Catholic Church branch of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) at Kpehe in Accra, Mr Lartey noted that ICT would enhance awareness, learning and planning of the youth.
The seminar formed part of activities to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Service, which would reach its climax in October.
Mr Lartey whose topic was, “ICT – its relevance and challenges to the youth of today”, was of the view that ICT training would enable the youth to “build decision-making skills” to enable them contribute to the development of any management team they might find themselves in. Mr Edward Dzidonu, Vice Chairman of the CYO underscored the need for the youth to embrace ICT since it would help them to improve their daily lives.
The CYO Chairman, Mr Dominic Ntumy, said in a technological era, members had to be abreast of with the benefits of ICT. Mr Ntumy suggested that ICT training should start with basic school pupils to “catch them young”.
He expressed optimism that the future leaders of this nation, would brace the numerous challenges posed by the concept.
