Accra, May 22, GNA – Nana Owusu-Ansah, a member of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA) Ghana, on Monday noted that it was the responsibility of government to set the agenda for wealth creation to ensure the multiplying effect on the national economy. He said the provision of business capital and other logistics for entrepreneurs would facilitate wealth creation.
Nana Owusu-Ansah, who is also the Executive Director of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Seed Production Unit was speaking at a media briefing in Accra on Accountancy Week Celebration, on the theme: “Wealth Creation: A National Challenge.”
He however, dispelled public notion that it was the sole responsibility of government to create wealth and therefore challenged all Ghanaians to get on board.
Professor Nana Ato Ghartey, Vice President of ICA said wealth creation was a global challenge even to America and therefore, the reason for the selection of the theme to be deliberated upon at a conference and find solutions on “how we could all come together and create wealth to boost our economy”.
“Wealth creation is a real national aspiration and challenge as captured in Vision 2020 and subsequent national vision and plans. It has a multi-faceted concept, which involve economic, legal, cultural, political, ethical, moral, financial, tax, risk, accounting and other dimensions”, Prof. Ghartey stressed.
Other activities lined up for the Week include students’ forum, graduation ceremony, annual general meeting where new executives would be elected and new members admitted into the Institute as well as a dinner dance.
A study manual, being prepared by the Institute for its students to assist them study and pass their examination would be ready by December.
