Ibis supports Community Policing Project in Ashaiman

The Ashaiman Divisional Police Command is collaborating with Ashaiman Governance Forum, a community based organisation, to undertake a community policing project in the Municipality.

The project, being funded by Ibis Ghana, a non-governmental organisation, will involve crime and safety survey and the organisation of Police-Citizen engagement forums within the seven zonal councils of Ashaiman through public education and community patrols.

A release issued by Chief Superintendent of Police David Eklu, Ashaiman Police Divisional Commander on Wednesday and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said this would enable the community and the police to work together to create a shared vision of crime prevention.

The Community Policing project will also enable the Divisional Police Command to strengthen relations between residents and the police and develop new strategies to combat crime.

The project is also expected to help the police to identify key areas which critically need attention in terms of security in the communities, and to sensitize the public on security matters towards peaceful and violence- free December elections.**
