I won’t countenance disloyalty – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has implored Deputy Regional Ministers to remain loyal to their substantive Regional Ministers or risk his wrath.

According to the president, he will not countenance any act by the Deputy Ministers that undermines the authority of their superiors.

Nana Akufo-Addo said this when he swore into office 10 Deputy Regional Ministers and tasked them to provide good and honest governance and generate prosperity for the people of Ghana at the Flagstaff House in Accra on Tuesday 28 March.

“You have been appointed not only with the prior approval of parliament but also with the prior knowledge and implied consent of your respective Regional Ministers. It means that your first responsibility is to support the work of your Regional Minister. Loyalty to the Minister is the fundamental premise for the success of your work. I will not countenance any acts of disloyalty or subversion of your minister, for I will take such an act as disloyalty to me, personally, and by reference disloyalty to the party and to the state,” he stated.

“Any deputy who thinks the route to advancement lies in your ability to subvert or undermine your Minister would be sadly mistaken. You will not profit from that conduct in Akufo-Addo’s presidency. I want you to work with your Minister in all sincerity and transparency; that is a guarantee of your success and our collective success.”

The Deputy Minister for the Western Region, Gifty Eugenia Kusi, speaking on behalf of her colleagues, pledged their commitment to support their Regional Ministers and project the vision of the New Patriotic Party.
