I will vie for NDC Regional Chairmanship – Tackie Komme

Mr. Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme, former Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency, has hinted that he would vie for the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when nominations open.

He dropped the hint at a get-together organised by the Chairman of the Odododiodoo Constituency of the party, Mr. Daniel Nii Okai, for a cross-section of opinion leaders including constituency executives and councilors of the Ashiedu-Keteke Sub-metro of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

Mr. Okai, popularly known as “Toza,” who is also the Chairman of the Ashiedu-Keteke Sub-Metropolitan District Council of the AMA, stressed the need for unity within the rank and file of the party to ensure that Odododiodoo remains a safe seat for the NDC, and increase the number of votes it delivers to the party.

He commended the Member of Parliament, who is also the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industries, Mr. Nii Lantey Verderpuye and his predecessors, Mr. Tackie Komme for the level of cooperation and unity of purpose to push the party’s agenda forward.

Mr. Okai urged the supporters and followers of the two NDC stalwarts in the constituency to emulate the two leaders and to bury their differences in the interest of the party and the area.

Mr. Tackie Komme expressed his unflinching support for Nii Lante Vanderpuye and the party for the progress of the area.

Nii Lantey Vanderpuye also commended Mr. Okai for his fatherly figure and desire for peace, unity, progress and development of the NDC, especially in the constituency.

He stressed the need for a forgiving spirit and brotherly love and called on members of the NDC to consider all that they could gain with a unified front as against all that they would lose out of disunity and division.

Mr. Vanderpuye declared his support to Mr. Tackie Komme should he vie for the Regional Chairmanship of the NDC.

The Regional Chairman, Mr. Ade-Coker who popped into the gathering, commended the Odododiodoo Chairman for his proactive initiatives for the party’s development in the area and described the constituency as the “pace setters” in the country’s politics.

He in an interview with Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ade-Coker could not confirm or deny that he is going to recontest his position.

He said he had not decided yet, adding: “Nomination for the various party positions has not open yet.

“For now we are still in office. Our mandate is not over and the most important thing now is to ensure NDC wins 2016,” he said.
