I will transparently handle issues – Alhaj Salia

Accra, July 21, GNA – Alhaj Issaku Salia, Upper West Regional Minister designate, on Wednesday said that he would transparently handle issues to facilitate the development of the Region.

The Minister said that he would consult his predecessors and opinion leaders towards the progress of the region.

Alhaj Salia said these when he appeared before the Parliamentary Vetting Committee to be grilled for the Upper West Minister position, which was vacant when Mr Mahmood Khalid was relieved of the post.

Alhaj Salia said he comes from Royal family but not from the Wa Naa’s (Chiefs’) Palace adding “We have little to do with the Wala Traditional area”.

He gave the assurance that he would unite the people for the development of the Region.

Alhaj Salia said he would work with the king makers to solve chieftaincy disputes, some of which were before the High Court and the Traditional Councils, to bring peace to the area.

He said that he would support the youth to go into crop and animal farming to increase agriculture production since the Region is blessed with fertile land.

Alhaj Salia said that it would not be possible for all individuals or companies to get contracts at the same time in the REgion.
