Dr. Samuel Sarpong, parliamentary candidate for Nhyiaeso on the ticket of |the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to operate an open door policy to strengthen the relationship between the office of the Member of Parliament (MP) and the constituents, to address matters relating to the welfare of the people to promote growth and development.
The former Ashanti Regional Minister, who was spelling out his vision for the constituency in an interview with The Chronicle, indicated that serving the supreme interest and collective common goal of the constituents was his prime concern.
Dr. Sarpong, who intends to institute an MP Scholarship Scheme for the benefit of brilliant but needy students within the Nhyiaeso Constituency, said he has plans of empowering the youth with seed capital and facilitating soft loans to enable identified groups to venture into businesses.
He said he would give environmental sanitation and waste management in the constituency top priority, and work to sustain the National Sanitation Day programme.
The former KMA boss and Central Regional Minister affirmed that a mandate to lead the Nhyiaeso constituents is tantamount to voting for their welfare, supreme interest, their secured future and unity, and progress.
Dr. Sarpong said he needed the mandate of the people to translate the President’s agenda of “Changing Lives-Transforming Ghana”.
According to him, the stronghold concept is not a reality, and, therefore, not applicable in modern day politics, and must be seen as a thing of the past, because politics is about development and improving the lot of the people.
Dr. Sarpong said his main contender from the other side is no match, and claimed that, so far, he is the best candidate among the aspirants in the constituency to represent the good people of Nhyiaeso in the National Assembly, after years of Dr. Anane’s occupancy.
He has, therefore, promised to deliver and not disappoint the NDC, his constituents, admirers, and supporters when he is given the mandate in the December 7 polls.
