I will not relent in discouraging Nii Noi from going independent – Addison

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Klottey Korle, Lawyer Philip Addison has vowed to ensure that his main competitor in the party’s primary, Nii Noi Nortey returns to the NPP ahead of the November elections.

According to him, it is crucial that Nii Noi Nortey comes back into the fold of the largest opposition party as politics is game of numbers.

Nii Noi lost out to Addison in a re-run of the August 2 primary, the outcome of which the latter had contested in court.

Nii Noi Nortey who was tipped by many political watchers to win the elections has indicated that he’s contesting the upcoming Parliamentary election as an independent candidate and has his posters and banners littered across the constituency.

Many political analysts have said the NPP will have their hopes of wrestling the seat from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) dashed, should the former constituency chairman go independent as he is very popular on the ground.

But speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Lawyer Philip Addison who was lead counsel in the historic presidential petition case which was heard at the Supreme Court in 2013, stated that he and his team will not give up on getting Nii Noi Nortey back into the NPP to help the party win the elections resoundingly.

“Politics is about numbers so we can never say we are glossing over any body. He’s a member of our party; I have said it openly he’s welcome anytime. So many people including myself are working to bring him back into the fold.

We have not given up, we are not brushing it aside; politics is a number game. We need everybody on board; we are working on it. Until the day of elections we are not giving up.”
