I will live long – Kufuor tells detractors

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor says his time to die is not due, insisting that he was strong and healthy, contrary to report on Sunday that he was dead.

Rumours had circulated on various social networking sites over the weekend that the former president had passed on in abroad.

Speaking on Adom FM on Monday, President Kufuor revealed that he was on an international assignment in Norway, and not bed-ridden as speculated around.

The former president could not comprehend why such a wild rumour could be circulated about him without evidence.

“When I left Ghana two weeks ago, I first went to Nigeria on the invitation of the President [Goodluck Jonathan] to deliver an address on their country’s 52nd independence anniversary.”

He added: “From there I went to Switzerland and then to Germany to discuss issues on tropical diseases. I am currently in Norway. And by God’s grace, I am very well. No one comes to this earth without dying but by his grace, my time is not due.”

The former President is expected to arrive in Ghana within this week.
