I will facilitate establishment of a University in E/R – Julius Debrah

The Eastern Regional Minister-designate, Julius Debrah has promised to facilitate the establishment of a public university in the region if his nomination is approved.

Last year, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government promised to build a public university in the region if it was retained in power.

Mr. Debrah who appeared before the vetting committee on Friday said, he will consult the chiefs in the region to find a suitable location for the university as soon as Parliament approves his nomination.

“I don’t think I need to wait for the President to ask me when to look for land and things like that. As soon as he gets the approval by Parliament to establish the public university, I will be moving in consultation with the chiefs to look for a good area to establish the university.”

According to him, establishing a public university in the region will bring many benefits.

Mr. Debrah also pledged to prepare the grounds in waiting for the building of a regional hospital as promised by the President.

“If I get the nod, at my first regional coordinating council meeting, these are some of the things that we will be discussing.”
