I will abolish August 4 holiday when I become President – Namoale

National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful, Nii-Amasah Namoale, says the proposed August 4 holiday by President Akufo-Addo will be abolished when he becomes president.

“My next NDC government will delete the August 4 holiday and bring back June 4. This is a promise that I will carry through,” the former La-Dadekotopon MP posted on his Facebook page Tuesday.

The President has proposed a legislation to Parliament to designate 4th August as Founders Day, and 21st September as Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, both of which will be observed as public holidays

“That day, 4th August, is, thus, obviously the most appropriate day to signify our recognition and appreciation of the collective efforts of our forebears towards the founding of a free, independent Ghana,” the president explained in a statement released Sunday.
