I wasn’t born to be president – Gen Mosquito

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has debunked claims that he will in future contest as a presidential candidate on the ticket of the ruling party.

According to him, tagging him as presidential aspirant threat to President Mahama is balderdash since he is not destined to be a president.

“hahaha [laughter]…it is funny. It’s so funny how people think. Where is this coming from…that I want to be a president? Some people are born to be president and others are born to serve the president. I wasn’t born to be president,” He noted.

Some members of the ruling party have alleged that Asiedu Nketia affectionately called in politics as “General Mosquito” is eyeing the presidential position of the party in future despite his keen interest in his general secretary position now.

But speaking on Asempa FM, Monday, the only “General” in Ghana’s politics is of a view that, his support for President John Dramani Mahama as president still remains sturdier and firm.

He opined that, he will rather use the resources to campaign for his alleged presidential ambition to support President Mahama anytime.

To him, anyone within the party can contest the sitting president in primaries but winning against the president will be a difficult task for that person.

Asiedu Nketia believes President Mahama has performed creditably well and needs the support from the party to win the 2016 election.
