‘I wanted to be a catholic priest’ – Sarkodie’s Manager Angel Town

Sarkodie’s longtime manager, Angel Town, has revealed that his childhood dream was to become a Catholic priest.

Speaking on the Stay By Plan podcast on Friday, October 3, Angel Town, whose real name is Angelo, shared that unlike many children who had clear career aspirations, he was uncertain about what he wanted to become while growing up.

“At some point, all I knew was I wanted to be a Catholic priest because my mom had forced us into church so much that I admired the priest,” he said.

Angel Town recalled being particularly inspired by Father Louis of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, describing him as a priest who spoke with a soft, almost Christ-like voice.

“There was a priest in my church who spoke like Jesus… Anybody who ever went to St. Joseph, the Worker Catholic Church, will know Father Louis. He’s like one of the top now,” he added.

Despite his early fascination with the priesthood, Angel Town’s journey eventually led him into entertainment and talent management, where he has made his mark as one of Africa’s most influential artiste managers.

He has been a key figure in the career of Ghanaian rap superstar Sarkodie, managing him for years and earning recognition as one of Africa’s biggest artiste managers. His contributions have been widely acknowledged in the music industry, with many crediting him for playing a pivotal role in Sarkodie’s success and impact across the continent.
