I support Nana – Collins Owusu Amankwah

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) parliamentary nominee for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah has rubbished allegations by critics who refer to him as anti Akufo-Addo claiming such comments are lifeless propaganda set by his opponents to give him a bad name in the upcoming elections.

It is largely perceived that the nominee for the NPP Manhyia North constituency is a mole in the NPP working behind the scenes against the three time bid of the Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Commenting on the claims against him, the Manhyia North legislator said such rumours were only vile propaganga which his opponents set out to court disaffection for him in the lead up to the polls, but insisted that didn’t work.

“I’ve served the party in the capacity as a polling station chairman, Ive been in the trenches and I’ve been committed to the course of our tradition, so why will I work against Nana Addo? It is not true. I’ve done a massive job for Nana Addo and this was just a political strategy calculated to destroy me but the people of Manhyia North are more discerning; more inclined and so they rejected that,” Amankwah told sit-in-host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Monday.

The incumbent MP said it will be out of place to conclude that because at a point in time he supported some candidate in internal polls, then that should feed into the perception that he dislikes Nana Addo.

Meanwhile, the nominee said he together with the NPP supporters in the constituency are working to ensure a target of between 85-90% popular vote in the upcoming polls for Nana Addo in his jurisdiction and the whole region as well.

The Ashanti region serves as the stronghold of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition, but election analyst, Ben Ephson believes it is far-fetched for the NPP to eye beyond 85% in the region.
