Son of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, has stated that he had some problems with the leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) governance and that led to his resignation from the party and still have problems with the leadership of the party.
According him, the philosophy and ideology of the incumbent party is well accepted by him since he is part of the brains which drafted their manifesto.
Dr. Sekou Nkrumah is reported to have considered re-joining the governing National Democratic Congress but not in a hurry.
The last son of Ghana’s first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was a member of the CPP but resigned to join the NDC in 2007.
He later served as Coordinator of the National Youth Authority in the Mills-Mahama administration following the NDC’s victory in the 2008 elections.
Speaking on Adom FM, candid Dr. Sekou Nkrumah stated clearly that “with me, if I look at the NDC’s philosophy and ideology I have no problems what so ever and that is why I became a member in 2007. But I had problems and difficulties with the leadership and I still do and in fact it is those problems that eventually led to my resignation from the NDC”.
He however said his decision to rejoin the NDC is not to lobby for any ministerial position.
Dr. Sekou Nkrumah specified that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) lacks the organizational ability to accelerate Ghana’s development.
He said in recent years, the party had proved that it had the campaign machinery to effectively win elections but performed abysmally when it came to governance.
