“I smoke to re-vitalize my body”- convict

An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday sentenced Forson Seshie, 35, truck pusher, to six months imprisonment for using narcotic drugs.

The court convicted Seshie on his own plea.

Seshie told the court that he smokes the substance to re-vitalize his body for the day’s work, adding that, he smokes about seven wraps a-day.

“I use to smoke only Indian hemp, but was introduced to cocaine later, which I mix with the wee,” adding that, he gets sick if he does not smoke the substance.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abraham Annor, told the court presided over by Mr. Francis Obiri that on May 31, this year, the Narcotic Unit of the Police Service went on an anti-narcotic drug operation and arrested the convict.

He said the convict in his caution statement admitted ownership of one wrap found on him, which he claims was for his personal use.
