I pray Montie FM host, panellists don’t end up in jail – Baako

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide has prayed the Supreme Court Justices sitting over the contempt case against the Montie FM Host and panelists not to sentence them to prison.

According to Kweku Baako, life at prison is not encouraging and so would not wish the three persons – Salifu Maase, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako-Gunn – to end up there.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on ‘Kokrokoo’, Mr. Baako cast a retrospective look at his experience in prison when he was also sued for contempt.

He noted that it is in prison that one gets to understand what it means for someone’s freedom to be curtailed.

Though condemning the comments by the three culprits, Mr. Baako stressed that he “sincerely pray for these guys that they will not end up being sent to prison. I heard people saying that there are equally humans in the prison and so it’s not frightening. It’s true. It’s human beings that are there but if you go there, under one minute; you’ll understand what ‘freedom’ means.”

He also advised sympathizers of the culprits to be wary of their actions around the court house or outside the court premises.

He urged them not to undertake any actions that will further inflame the tension emanating from the contempt case.

“Go show solidarity but please do it in a way that it won’t attract attention or breach public order or law. Because I feel that the gentlemen, as much as they need solidarity; they however don’t need anything that will inflame passions within or outside the court,” he said.

First Vice National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo also appealed to the Supreme Court to temper justice with mercy since the culprits have apologized for their disparaging remarks about the Judges.
