I pick and choose who I debate – Minority Leader

Minority Leader in Parliament Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has said he carefully picks and chooses people he debates on radio.

According to him, this decision does not amount to arrogance on his part, adding that he’s a down to person.

Mr Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, in a previous interview on Starr FM refused to engage the deputy Minister of Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu in banter on phone; an action several people considered as condescending to the deputy minister.

Speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM, the Minority Leader justified his action against the deputy minister but said that wasn’t intended to disrespect the latter.

“You are interviewing the Minority Leader, the counterpart is the Majority Leader and so you may want to invite the Majority Leader or in his absence the deputy Majority Leader. But you are not inviting even the substantive minister but his deputy.

“You don’t force me into banter with someone who would not just concede to any issue borne out of experience except to say that I disagree with the Minority Leader but cannot offer any counter proposal yet insists he disagrees. The person just refuses to justify what he’s saying. I don’t reduce myself to such.”
