I haven’t quit race – Subin Independent candidate

An independent parliamentary candidate for Subin, Kwabena Owusu, has denied media reports he has stepped down from the race to throw his weight behind the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Eugene Boakye Antwi ahead of the elections.

On Wednesday October 26, there were reports circulating in the constituency and on social media that he had stepped down.

But speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM, concerning the rumours, Mr Owusu said: “Those reports are false and should be disregarded.”

According to him, the false rumour was a ploy by his competitors to distract him and his supporters because the NPP had realised he was in a strong position to win the Subin seat, currently occupied by the main opposition party.

“They are trying to deceive my supporters because they know I will win the seat as an independent candidate. I have not stepped down,” he said.
