I have not been sidelined in Akufo-Addo’s government – Asamoah Boateng

Former Minister for Information under the erstwhile President Kufour’s government, Stephen Asamoah Boateng has rubbished claims that he has been sidelined under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking at the sidelines of Achimota Speaks which was held at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Science in Accra, Mr. Asamoah Boateng stated that he was not worried about not being appointed to serve in the Akufo-Addo era.

“In the NPP as you may well know, is like everybody wears a jersey to be ready to be called to come and play he noted, adding that “In President Kufour’s time I came in the second term. I was nowhere to be found in the first term and I played my part, so I’m not really worried at all.”

The former Information Minister also indicated that he had learned to be more patient with age and was now bringing people on board for training and mentorship in the background. He was however quick to add that he would be available should he be called to serve under the incumbent government, though he did not disclose the specific area.

“As you grow you become more patient… you are not always not going to be the center stage but you bring people on board and mentor people.” He stated “I’m always available and the president knows that but will give him the prerogative as the leader of a party who has been elected to go and implement a programme we all share and you don’t have to be in the frontline to do that…. I’m almost always at the flagstaff house and there are somethings we’re doing quietly and you’ll never notice, when the time comes for a public announcement or public to see you’re doing something that will come up but I don’t know when. He’s the appointing authority that does that but I’m not worried at all”, Mr. Asamoah boating disclosed.

There have been suggestions and outcries that some cabinet members from the Kufour era have been left out in the large sized cabinet of President Akufo-Addo
