I have no hand in Oguaa chieftaincy dispute – Veep

Vice-President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has rebuffed claims of being the brain behind the chieftaincy dispute that has rocked the people of Oguaa in the Central Region of the country.

A statement released by the Central Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Benard Allotey Jacobs on behalf of the Vice-President on Monday, said the number two gentleman of land “has not and will not take sides in the ongoing Oguaaman Chieftaincy issues.”

“It is that His Excellency does not belong to any of the Royal Families in Oguaa so attempts to rope him in the chieftaincy issues are unfortunate and very much regrettable.”

The statement assured the people that Mr. Amissah-Arthur has not instructed the Police to take any action against any faction in the disputes and, therefore, urged the men and women in black uniform to go about their duties without let or hindrance.

“As a resident of Cape Coast, he will attend the Oguaaman Fetu Afahye because the Festivals is for the people of Oguaa and not any Chieftaincy faction.”

It urged the people that the Presidency and the NDC would continue to work for all citizens in the spirit of reconciliation and to avoid the infinite cycle of revenge, vengeance and vendetta.
