I have no certificate in law – Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has confessed that he has no certificate in law.

“All my certificates, none of them included a certificate of law,” Mr Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, said on Wednesday during his cross-examination by Phillip Addison in the election petition hearing.

He was replying to one of the questions posed by Mr Addison, given the witness’ 34-year experience in elections in Ghana.

Mr Nketia’s reply created uneasiness among counsel of the petitioners, who thought of it as disrespectful.

“There is nothing disrespectful about the witness saying he has no certificate in law,” Tsatsu Tsikata, lead counsel for the third respondent said.

“Even some may take it as a mark of honesty,” he stressed.

General Mosquito’s cross-examination is in Day 2 and most of the questions have bordered on violations and irregularities during the 2012 polls.
