I have never said that homosexuality should be promoted- Nana Oye Lithur

Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur has denied that she has been advocating for the legalization of homosexuality in the country.

According to her, she only asked that the human rights of every citizen in the country be respected and protected.

Nana Oye Lithur courted controversy when she was alleged to have endorsed same sex marriage.

As a result, when she was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama to become the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, many individuals and religious sects stood up against her nomination.

They were advocating for her to be remove from that position because they felt that when given the chance, she will finally endorse and legalize same sex marriage.

However, when she appeared before the Appointment Committee in Parliament to be vetted, she debunked claims that she has ever supported the legalization of homosexuality.
