I have interest in NPP’s flagbearership race – Kofi Jumah

Who leads the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to face the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other political parties in 2016 has been the subject of discussion for months.

Undeniably, the competition has become keener after NPP’s 2008 and 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo hinted his return to lead the party in 2016.

Nana Addo’s main challenger, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, has also made his intentions clear to once again join in the race for the upcoming NPP’s flagbearership position.

The new face likely to join the flagbearership race is the former Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.

The outspoken Kofi Jumah, also known as Kofi Ghana, has stated categorically on Asempa FM that he aspires to contest in the party’s polls to select its flagbearer for the 2016 presidential elections.

“Who said I don’t have interest in contesting for the position? I have interest in the flagbearership race of the NPP…of course I have interest,” he said on Asempa FM

Kofi Jumah who is publicly known to be supporting Akufo-Addo’s third attempt to become president, seems to be preparing to match him for the party’s top post.

However, it is unclear if the former Member of Parliament will make actions his words or not.

The contest on who leads the NPP seems to be narrowing to two top shots of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo, who is cooling off in London waiting on the Lord for directions, and Alan Kyeremanten, who from all indications is vigorously putting his campaign together.
