Propaganda Secretary for the Central Region branch of National Democratic Congress, Bernard Allotey-Jacobs says he will not accept any offer of appointment from President John Dramani Mahama.
Allotey-Jacobs who was appointed by late President John Mills to serve on the Board of Governors for the Electricity Company of Ghana, said he will turn down an offer if he is approached by the Mahama administration.
The Propaganda Secretary made the revelation Tuesday night, on “Pampaso”, a current affairs talk show on the Adom TV channel on the Multi TV. The programme which is hosted by Kofi Adoma Nwanwani is aired every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 pm.
Mr. Allotey-Jacobs however assured that there will be regional representations at cabinet when the President forms his team. “The President has held consultations with the party at all the Regional branches,” he said.
Reacting to the decision by the majority in Parliament to give the position of Second Deputy Speaker to the NPP’s Joe Ghartey, Mr. Allotey-Jacobs said the decision was reached after the President stepped in, “as a demonstration of his peaceful nature and his quest to see the nation united”.
“The NDC had to swallow their pride by bringing in Joe Ghartey [as Second Deputy Speaker]; we were bent on giving it to the PNC,” Allotey-Jacobs stressed.
Meanwhile, a member of the NPP’s Communications Team, Nana Kofi Damoah has described the President’s call for peace and unity as “laughable”, saying the President’s actions are rather deepening the polarization in the nation than uniting the people.
Nana Damoah want President Mahama to “walk his talk” if he wants to see Ghana progress as a united nation.
