I don’t support Nana Addo – NPP Chairman

Thomas Appiah Kubi, the Mampong Constituency chairman of the NPP has asked to be excluded from the horde of regional and constituency chairmen who have declared overwhelming support for the candidature of Nana Akufo-Addo ahead of the October 18 presidential primaries of the party.

It was reported that about 34 constituency chairmen in the Greater Accra and other parts of the region have publicly averred their support for Nana-Addo during his campaign launch in Accra.

Honourable Appiah Kubi yet said inasmuch as he respects the collective decision of his colleagues, he believes in secrecy and would not wear his heart on sleeves. He believes all the seven contenders going for the special delegates congress on August 31 are genuine party men so he can “only wish them well”.

The NPP chairman opined that, public declaration of support for a particular candidate is akin to showing that the others are undeserving of trust and belief which he would not subscribe to because he knows all the candidates including Alan Kyeremanteng are competent.

Speaking to Agoo East Eliasu Tanko, Hon. Kubi found it needless the regular exchanges of diatribes and unprintable words between the supposed supporters of Nana Akufo-Addo and Alan Kyeremanteng on various hustings.

He said such attitude only discredits the party and advised them to engage in clean campaign and rather attack the NDC government for the current economic woes facing the country.

The NPP has slated August 31 for its special delegates congress to prune down the number of it presidential hopefuls.
