I don’t miss being president – Kufuor

Former president John Agyekum Kufuor said he does not miss the presidency, having left power since 2008.

According to him, he feels “fulfilled” and after close to 50 years in public office, he is content with the service he rendered to Ghana.

“I believe I left office feeling quite fulfilled; I had a very long period in public office,” Kufuor, who first led the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to power in 2000 told Nana Aba Anamoah on the current affairs show – ‘State of Affairs’ – on GHOne TV.

He added: “I started in my 20’s and ended exactly on my 70th birthday, and if I’m not satisfied with that, then nothing will satisfy me. I think I’m alright.”

Kufuor, born December 8, 1938, after completing his master’s degree in philosophy, politics, and economics at the University of Oxford in 1964 returned to Ghana and decided to enter into politics.

He has served as a Member of Parliament and secretary for local government in the 70s before becoming a two-term president in the 2000s.
