I didn’t bully any journalist – Hamid

Information Minister Mustapha Hamid has refuted claims that he bullied journalists at the presidential encounter with the media on Tuesday, July 18.

The Central regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs, had suggested on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ on Wednesday, July 19 that Mr Hamid “bullied” some of the journalists during the Q&A session, a situation he said intimidated the press.

Mr Hamid, however, debunked the bullying assertion saying “it is not true”. He indicated that it was only on one occasion that he tried to intervene when a journalist flouted the rules by asking three questions.

Speaking to Asempa FM’s Kwadwo Asare-Baffour Acheampong on ‘Ekosii Sen’ on Wednesday July 19, Mr Hamid said: “We must learn how to obey laws,” indicating that the “rules were outlined before the beginning for each journalist to ask a question but the gentleman involved asked three question”.

He pointed out that another lady also flouted the rules by asking two questions hence the suggestion of bullying or intimidation is not factual.
