I did the AMERI job to save my brother’s name – Ibrahim Mahama

The CEO of Engineers and Planners(E&P), Ibrahim Mahama says his interest in the reclaiming of land at Aboadze for the building of the AMERI power plant was purposely to save his brother from needless vilification.

“The determination of me doing that job is to save my brother’s name; if I didn’t do that job nobody would have done it. The plants would have come and they would still be at the port and the ground will not be ready,” he said in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM.

Amidst reports that AMERI Power might have short-changed the country for inflating the price for the turbines, the NPP has also fingered Ibrahim Mahama of being a beneficiary of the alleged scandalous deal.

However, Ibrahim has denied the accusation by the opposition NPP that he’s connected to the deal.

“We have no contract with Ameri; We have contract with Ministry of Power to reclaim land and let them build a plant on the land.“

However, he said he’s now better informed that he can apply to be an Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the country, insisting that he is over-qualified to handle such job.

“Now that I know Government of Ghana can give anybody guarantee to build power plant, I will also apply and also be an IPP. I’m more than qualified to deserve this same concessions as is being given to others.”
