I did not embezzle funds at FAO – Hackman

Hon Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Minister for the Interior, has reacted to recent media allegation that he embezzled funds while working as the Africa Regional Bureau Chief of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), based in Rome.

In a rejoinder, dated August 31, 2004, fired to media houses yesterday, by Kulendi @ Law, solicitors for Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, it denied all the claims in the Ghanaian post saying ?as Chief of the UN/FAO Regional Bureau for Africa, Hon Hackman Owusu-Agyemang did not have any direct responsibility for handling, disbursing or accounting for funds?.

?As such, it can only be a blatant falsehood that our client (Hackman) could not account for funds allocated for the projects?, the rejoinder stated.
