I couldn’t report $100,000 ‘bribery’ case because I was limited – Former Presby PRO

Former Public Relations Officer for the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Acheampong has revealed that he chose to remain silent on the alleged $100,000 bribery scandal three years ago because he was still working under the Moderator, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey.

He insisted that there was no way he could report the alleged bribery case to the Police because he didn’t have the mandate and approval from the moderator.

Speaking to GhanaWeb’s Laud Adu-Asare, Dr. Acheampong said he first made it known to the public when he was interviewed by former Adom FM presenter, Adakabre Frimpong-Manso after he got fired from the presbytery.

According to him, his refusal to take the $50,000 cash offered to him by Prof. Martey was the reason he lost his job with the Presby Church three years ago.

To him this was done on the suspicion that he would blow the cover of the moderator on the alleged bribe.

Dr. Osei Acheampong has been in the news for contradicting former Presby Moderator, Prof. Martey´s claims of rejecting $100,000 cash, a Trasacco house and a Land Cruiser vehicle as a bribe from some politicians to soften his stance on criticizing them.

In a communique released by the Presby Church on Tuesday, Rev. Prof. Martey lambasted some politicians who according to him had attempted to muzzle him to prevent him from speaking against their nefarious activities and the bizarre state of the nation´s affairs.

The Presby moderator is on record of being ardent critic of President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government.
