I am not suffering stroke – Mumuni

Foreign Affairs Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, has denied media reports that he was suffering from stroke and had been “flown to the United States for treatment.”

The Statesman newspaper published in a recent edition that Alhaji Mumuni was suffering from cerebral vascular attack, although the paper would not state the extent of condition.

Alhaji Mumuni speaking to the Accra based FM station, JoyFM, on Thursday, in his usual low tone, however insisted “I did not fall ill.”

“By the grace of Almighty Allah, I’m in buoyant health; I’m actually out walking and talking to you,” he said.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, who will be attending diplomatic meetings on behalf of the President in New York, however, confirmed he felt “a little funny” after disembarking from a flight from London en rout to the Caribbeans.

“When I got to the Houston airport and actually got down and I noticed that I was feeling a little funny. I thought it was some kind of exhaustion so I checked into a local hospital and then I was discharged.”

Alhaji Mumuni would also accompany President Mills to attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting on the 24th of September.
