I am not joining gov’t- Komla Dumor denies speculation

Ace African BBC news anchor and former Joy FM Super Morning Show host Komla Dumor has swiftly dismissed reports in the Al-Hajj newspaper captioned “Dumor, Haruna Atta join Gov’t”.

An Accra based tabloid on Monday reported that Mr Dumor is expected to tender in his resignation at the BBC and take up a new challenge in government as presidential spokesperson.

The paper claimed that a credible source at the seat of government had disclosed that President Mahama’s intention to appoint the respected broadcaster is to, among other things, strengthen his communication team.

The appointment of Mr Dumor will see John Abdulai Jinapor taking up a ministerial appointment, the report adds.

“Wow this news is a real surprise to me! Completely untrue”, the BBC journalist flatly denied the speculation on his facebook page.

The publication also mentioned that President Mahama is set to announce the Editor-in-Chief of the Accra Mail, Alhaji Abdul Haruna Atta, as Head of Communication at the presidency.
