I am not bothered by criticism – New CHRAJ boss justifies appointment

The newly appointed Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice(CHRAJ) has downplayed talk of the timing of his appointment.

The new Commissioner, Mr Joseph Whittal explained that the President has power to appoint any one he deems competent enough for any position until 6th of January 2017.

There’s a growing controversy about the appointment, including a suit in court by leading NPP member Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, especially as it has taken place during the transition period where power is being transferred from the Mahama-led NDC administration to the Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP administration.

Mr Whittal indicated that he is not worried about all the talk surrounding his appointment, adding that he is competent and qualifies to be appointed.

Mr Whittal has been an acting Chairperson of the Commission since Late 2014 when the then CHRAJ boss, Madam Lauretta Lamptey was sacked from office.
