Mamponteng (Ash), Feb.24, GNA- Hypertension ranked second to malaria with 2,749 cases in the top 10 Out-Patient Department records in all the medical centres in the Kwabre District last year. The District recorded 586 snake bites, which was the least recorded cases on the list.
This was contained in the 2004 Annual Performance Review of the District Health Directorate released to the Ghana News Agency at Mamponteng on Tuesday.
Mr Seth Tetteh, District Health Information Officer, mentioned other cases on the list as cough/ cold, skin diseases, ulcers, and diarrhoea with no dehydration, home or occupational injuries, rheumatism, anaemia and typhoid fever.
Dr Kwasi Yeboah-Awudzi, District Director of Ghana Health Service said the Service in collaboration with the District Assembly is sponsoring the education of five student nurses and four midwives. “Two others are in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology pursuing degree programmes.”
Dr Yeboah-Awudzi asked the people to eat balance diets, do body exercises and keep their environments clean to control malaria infections and other communicable diseases.
