House to Commence debate on nation’s address next week

Mr Cletus Apul Avoka, Majority Leader said a motion to thank President Mills for the State of the Nation’s address is expected to be moved on Tuesday February 21 2012 with debate to commence on subsequent days during the week.

He said to ensure as many members as possible to make their contributions, the business committee had recommended various time allocations, with the mover of a motion having 20 minutes, another 20 minutes for the seconder and and 10 minutes for members.

Mr Avoka said this when he read the business statement for the fifth week ending Friday 24th February 2012.

Time allocations may however be varied based on the exigencies of the state of business on each sitting day.

He said the house may have extended sittings up to 5:00pm each day.

Mr Avoka said during the week, Bills may be presented to the House for First Reading and those of urgent nature may be taken through the various stages in one day in accordance with Order 199.

Papers and Committee Reports may also be presented to the House, motions may be debated and their consequential resolutions, if any taken.
