Hoteliers should ensure the comfort and safety of Tourists- Mrs Kwansa

Tema, Oct. 16, GNA – Mrs Gifty Kwansa, Tema Regional Director of the Ghana Tourist Board (GTB) has underscored the need for hoteliers to meet the basic standards in the Tourism Industry.

To this end, he asked the hoteliers to endeavour to treat tourists to cleanliness, comfort and safety.

Mrs Kwansa, made the call when she addressed members of the Tema Regional branch of the Ghana Progressive Hotels Association (GHAPROHA) at their general meeting in Tema.

She said Tema is strategically located to accommodate and house tourists who travel through the Eastern Corridor of the country, hence the need for the hoteliers to project a very good image of Tema and its environs.

“Apart from business tourism, tourists will want to explore whatever is in the region, and for that matter, the board will have to rely on your partnership and co-operation to achieve this objective.”

Mrs Kwansa gave the assurance that GTB would put in place mechanisms to ensure that the expectation of tourists who desire to have a “home away from home”, is met.

She pledged the board’s determination to create wealth and improve the socio-economic development of the nation, by creating jobs and generating income.

Nana Kwadjo Opei IV, immediate past Chairman of GHAPROHA said Tema “abounds in potential tourist attraction, which should be tapped by members to help move the region forward.

Nana Opei appealed to the new regional director to ensure that members of the association, who have paid their license fees, are issued with licenses to enable them to operate with ease without any impediments.
