Hospital appeals for early payment of claims

The Accounts Manager of the Presbyterian Hospital at Donkorkrom, Mr Wilberforce Osei Owusu, has appealed to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to ensure regular settlement of claims submitted by the hospitals.

He said this would enable the hospitals to regularly acquire the needed drugs to treat the clients of the scheme when they visit the hospitals.

Mr Osei Owusu said the Hospital owed their suppliers huge sums of money and since March this year the Hospital had not received any payment from the Scheme.

Mr Owusu made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana news Agency Media Auditing and Tracking of Development Project in the District and communities at Donkorkrom.

He said some of their clients were threatening to stop supplying them with drugs.

The Accounts Manager also appealed to the NHIA to give the Hospital a special dispensation by releasing funds regularly to pay their suppliers.

He also appealed to the Ministry of Health to provide the Hospital with a vehicle to enable them to undertake outreach programmes in remote areas.
