Hon. Agnes Chigabatia For Vice President

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa North, Hon. Agnes Chigabatia, has set the record by declaring herself as the Vice President to all the twenty NPP Presidential hopefuls.

She said she is ready to take up the challenge as the vice persident of the country because women have over the years proved that they are capable of managing the nation with the right support of men.

Hon. Mrs. Chigabatia, expressed concern about the failure of women in the country, particularly the NPP to join the presidential race, asking, “where are the women, is the presidency a preserve for men?”

“If women really want to take part in decision making process of the country they should take such bold challenges by competing with men in all aspects of governance”, she boldly told Space FM in Sunyani, after addressing the Sunynai Polytechic branch of the Northern Students Union (NSU).

The Builsa North MP, who is cast in the mould of the late fire brand legislator, Hawa Ogede Yakubu, noted that “the lack of courage on the part of women in Ghana to contest for political position is always drawing them behind”.

Hon. Chigabatia disclosed that, she is inspired to vie for the presidency but she is young in politics and lacks the necessary financial resources to campaign effectively with the men.

“However since one does not need the votes of delegates or electorate to become a Vice President, I believe am qualified for that position, which means that every woman could vie for that post as well”, she stressed..

She therefore urged women in the NPP not to allow the fear of losing election to scare them but come out boldly to rub shoulders with the men.

The MP added that a woman Vice President for Ghana would certainly be another plus for the nation following the recent appointment of Georgina Woode as the first female Chief Justice in the history of the country and Mrs Elizabeth Mills as the first female Deputy IGP.
