Homeopathy Physician Association visits homeopathy clinics

country.
Accra (G/R) sept. 11, GNA – Homeopathy Physicians Association of Ghana in collaboration with the Ministry of Health have embarked on an inspection visit to Homeopathic Hospitals and Clinics throughout the country.
The visit was to give the ministry and the Association first hand information on the practices of Homeopathy and to help flush out quack practitioners.
It would also enable the accredited practitioners to be updated with government policies on alternative medical practices in the country.
Dr. Alex Essuman, the General Secretary of the Association, who announced this at the weekend in Accra, said Homeopathy was a medical treatment based on the theory that certain disease could be cured by giving very small doses of drugs which in a healthy person would produce symptoms like those of the disease opposed to allopathy.
He said the Association had noted with concern the misapplication of homeopathic drugs and combination of allopathic with herbal drugs by some practitioners suspected to be quack.
Dr. Essuman said homeopathy practice was more that combining allopathic drugs with herbal preparations and urged the public to assist health authorities to eliminate these practices
He said homeopathic drugs were produced from natural sources such as animals, vegetables and minerals adding that homeopathic medicines made from herbs were manufactured to make substances efficacious far beyond their herbal content.
Places visited include Geowin Homeopathic clinic and Tanjin Natural Health centres both at Medina in the Greater Accra Region and Humble Homeopathic clinic at Breku and Abuburo-Nkosua Homeopathic at Agona Swedru in the central.
