Mahama Mahammoud, leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, and a contender for the National Organizer position is calling for the forthcoming National Delegates’ Conference of the NPP to be held in the Northern part of Ghana.
I am making this clarion call to the National Executive Committee to consider it as a strategic issue that will keep the body and soul of the NPP family together. It could be recalled that since the inception of the party in 1992 June, no national programme of the party has ever been held in the North. All National Events to elect either the flag-bearer or National Executive officers are held almost all the time at the Southern Sector. The time has now come for my party to critically note that the Northern Ghana is also part of the mix.
As a former Regional Organizer, I know and appreciate the feelings of the grass root. We as a party should put our family members in the Northern part to test by assessing their capacities, and this time their ability to host a National Delegates Conference.
The party by organizing this delegates Conference in the North will energise and rekindle the spirit of the party among its members.
I also want our party to hold the Delegates Conference to show and prove to the NDC that its claim that the Northern Region its strong base is history.
As a party we stand to benefit when the National Delegates Conference in held in Tamale.
