She pledged an open-door administration, soliciting for unity, she urged members to gird their loins for action through hard work for the corporate aspiration of the Municipality to be met in earnest.

Dr Kweku declared her intention to be a unifier and a bridge to connect all aggrieved parties in the area, as peace was a crucial ingredient for accelerated development.

Earlier, Mr Joseph Z. Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, doubling as the acting MCE, said the vacuum created by the absence of a substantive Chief Executive in the last five months had affected the smooth administration of the Municipality.

He commended members for enacting history by confirming President John E. A. Mills’s nominee in a “one-touch fashion resplendent of show of overwhelming acceptance and commitment towards her success”.

Mr Amenowode urged members to sustain and replicate the zeal demonstrated in order that the aspiration of the people would be met in record time.

Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, commended the Assembly members for the trust they had reposed in the President’s nominee.

He urged Assembly-members to bring themselves to the level of the people and explain government policies, programmes and interventions in their various jurisdictions.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo assured the assembly members that government’s commitment to the decentralization processes remain unwavering and would rely on Assembly-members and unit-committee members to succeed.

Ms Edith Akpoto, Presiding Member of the Municipality, urged members to position themselves to harness material and other resources available to champion growth and development of the Municipality.
