The Grand Durbar of the 2025 Hogbetsotso Festival was held in Anloga with a strong call to strengthen unity and collective progress among the Anlo people and beyond.
The ceremony which climaxed this year’s celebrations was held under the theme: ‘Building Bridges: From Common History to Common Destiny.’
The durbar was a colourful display of tradition, with chiefs, queen mothers, elders, and cultural groups showcasing the pride and heritage of the Anlo State. The event was led by the Awoamefia of Anlo, Torgbui Sri III, and attended by distinguished guests including the Akwamuhene Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, who served as the Guest of Honour.
Representing the President, Julius Debrah addressed the gathering and highlighted the cultural and historical significance of the Volta Region.
He assured that ongoing development projects in the region will be prioritised, reinforcing government’s commitment to supporting local growth.
The Volta Regional Secretary of the NDC, James Gunu, also praised the organizers for a successful and well-coordinated festival.
He acknowledged the role of the festival in preserving identity and promoting tourism, and encouraged continued unity and support within the region.
The Grand Durbar reaffirmed the Hogbetsotso Festival’s role as one of Ghana’s most celebrated traditional events a platform for cultural connection, pride, and dialogue about shared progress.
