Ho West NPP elects Goh Parliamentary Candidate

Kpedze (V/R), Sept. 5 GNA – Mr Mawutor Goh, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, was on Tuesday elected unopposed to contest the Ho West Constituency Parliamentary seat next year on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Goh thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work hard to win the seat. He said since his appointment as the MCE, he had worked assiduously to change the face of the municipality, which he held, came tops in the construction of feeder roads in the country.

Mr Goh appealed to the people to reciprocate his good works and that of the government by voting massively for the NPP. He appealed to members of the Party to embark on a vigorous membership drive.

In another development, there was chaos at the Ho Central Constituency NPP meeting when Mr. Walter Data Glala, 60, a retired educationist, was introduced by Mr Charles Tetteh, First Regional Vice-chairman of the Party, as parliamentary candidate for the 2008 elections.

Some of the delegates stormed the high table in protest against Mr Glala’s election but calm prevailed when Mr. Goh entered the hall. Mr. Glala was the only candidate who filed for the position at the close of nominations and was accordingly declared the unopposed candidate.

Addressing delegates, Mr Tetteh said the biggest threat facing the NPP was not from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or any other opposition parties, but lack of unity, bickering and backbiting within the Party.
