Ho-West MP commends media in V/R

Ho, March 11, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho West on Monday commended the media in the Volta Region for their meritorious work in the last general elections. He observed that though the media in the region were handicapped, they gave comprehensive news coverage of the region, ensuring peace and stability. Mr Bedzra said this when he paid a working visit to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) office in Ho, to familiarize himself with the office and the work of media men.

He underscored the importance of the media in ensuring good governance and stability and urged media practitioners to see themselves as such and be professional in their work. Mr Bedzra expressed his preparedness to work with the media in the region and asked practitioners not to hesitate to make contact with him where necessary. He urged them to give some importance to development journalism towards the accelerated growth of the region. Mr Wilhem Gaitu, Volta Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency expressed gratitude to the MP for the visit, acknowledging that he was the first MP in the region to have visited the Agency after the elections. He said the media have the responsibility to protect the country’s young democracy and would not renege in doing that to ensure its stability and growth.
