Ho Polytechnic to begin consultation on attachment programme

Ho, June 18, GNA- The Ho Polytechnic will soon begin consultations with industrial concerns to solicit their support for the implementation of the institute’s industrial attachment programme for students. This is to stop frustrations students face in securing places for attachment, considered an important practical content of the Higher National Diploma courses of the Polytechnics in the country. Ms Elizabeth Afedo, a Lecturer and member of the Liaison Committee on Industrial Attachment, was reacting to concerns of students during the first Management Day Lectures of the School of Business and Management Studies of the Polytechnic in Ho on Friday. She expressed the hope that the liaison team would secure places for the students ahead of the time of the attachments to save them the trouble of going from one establishment to the other seeking for placement.

Ms Afedo said the one-month duration of the attachment instead of three months each in the second and third years was to make up for time lost as a result of disruptions in the Polytechnic’s academic programme over the years.

The management day was instituted to bring students, lecturers and practitioners together to discuss issues affecting management to improve management skills in the country. This year’s programme, which was under the theme “Entrepreneurship In Ghana: Prospects and Challenges” discussed fraud detection and prevention.

Mr. Edward Ayime, Dean of the School of School of Business and Management Studies, said the celebration was aimed at preparing students to meet the challenges of the dynamics of management in a fast changing business setting in the world.
