Ho Municipal Hospital launches five year strategic Plan

Ho, Jan 25, GNA – The Ho Municipal Hospital on Thursday launched a five-year strategic plan aimed at salvaging its numerous financial, infrastructural and other health delivery challenges. Known as “Rising Internal Strength,” the plan seeks to improve the quality of patient care, acquire adequate infrastructure, strengthen the human resource base, increase internally generated income and manage available resources effectively and efficiently. Commissioned in 1927 as a small health post, the hospital’s structures have by the year 2003 suffered serious deterioration due to lack of funds for maintenance.

But through contributions the hospital’s personnel were able to finance the rehabilitation of the theatre and mortuary. In his remarks at the launch, Dr Andrew Arde-Acquah, Volta Regional Director of Health Services, said management of health care services had become complex and challenging in the country. “It is therefore imperative that health managers strategize effectively in order to be able to provide quality health care services to the people they serve,” he reiterated. Dr Arde-Acquah called on the staff of the hospital to be dedicated to the vision of the facility by creating a congenial organizational culture that promotes effectiveness. “All staff must have a niche for providing quality health care by improving upon your customer-care services,” he said. He said the government had improved upon the working conditions of health staff in order to retain them in the country and charged them to show gratitude to the nation by working hard towards achieving the vision of the Ghana Health Service. Dr Kofi Gafatsi Normanyo, Acting Medical Superintendent of the hospital, was hopeful that the plan would help the hospital to become one of the top-most hospitals “that radiates a lot of love, compassion, wisdom and knowledge for the betterment of all”. 25 Jan. 08
