Ho Municipal Directorate of NCCE organizes forum on Election 2008

Ho, Sept. 18, GNA – Mama Adokua Asigble IV, a Member of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) on Thursday advised Ghanaians to conscientiously endeavour to maintain the prevailing peace in the country during and after Election 2008.

She said “Let what is happening in some African countries be an eye opener for us to hold fast to the peace we are enjoying now.” Mama Asigble, who is also Paramount Queenmother of Tefle gave the advice at a forum organized by Ho Municipal Directorate of NCCE at

Sokode Gborgame to sensitize the people on the need for political tolerance and peaceful elections. She noted that conflicts in most African countries in recent times were elections related and appealed to politicians to refrain from ethnic and religious centred politics.

“I appeal to everyone play his or her role properly and refrain from violent actions that could lead to conflicts,” she said.

Mama Asigble, appealed to the youth to resist politicians who want to use them to foment trouble to achieve their selfish ambitions. Mr Harry Asimah, Ho Municipal Director of NCCE said politics was about agreements and disagreements, and should therefore, not posed serious challenge or threat to Ghana’s democratic dispensation.

He said NCCE’s desire was for the country to conduct Election 2008 in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner “so that our infant democracy could be stabilized.”

A drama on political tolerance and peaceful elections was performed by members of “Ghana Will Win On December 7” Drama Troupe at the forum. 18 Sept. 08
