Mr Tenasu Kofi Gbedemah, a civic society activist, has described Ho, as the “poorest managed” regional capital in Ghana, and called for a “revolution” to salvage the situation.
He cautioned that Ho was sliding towards disorder, a “big slum” and a “kiosk regional capital.”
In a statement to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Gbedemah critised the Ho Municipal Assembly for “being too weak”, and allowing people to put up structures anywhere and anyhow a without permit.
Mr Gbedemah described Sunyani as ‘neat’, Koforidua as ‘a place of sanity’ and Tamale an ‘example of progress.’
On the contrary, he said, Ho was ‘a spectacle of jungle paths, poorly constructed gutters, and noise pollution.’
Mr Gbedemah said like other Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies; the Ho Municipal Assemblies must build comfortable communities for the people.
He said the Ho Municipal Assembly seemed helpless in confronting the growing disorder in Ho.
Meanwhile, Mr Fedelix Attor, the Public Relations Officer of the Municipal Assembly, said comparing Ho to Sunyani and Tamale was like comparing “Accra to Dubai.”
He said Ho was not doing that badly, pointing to the “gang of three” roads-Hoviepe Junction to Anfoeta, Matse to Hoe, and Kpenoe to Tokokoe, all to be done soon.
Mr Attor said the Ho town roads were “good, appreciable.”
